StatAssist :: Product Features

StatAssist allows to easily select a probability distribution, specify parameter values, and view the distribution graphs and related properties depending on the parameters specified. Features include:

Graphs

Distribution Graph

StatAssist displays a number of interactive graphs which can be zoomed, panned, exported, and printed:

  • probability density function (PDF)
  • cumulative distribution function (CDF)
  • survival function
  • hazard function (failure rate)
  • cumulative hazard function

Calculations

Distribution Properties

StatAssist provides the following information depending on the selected distribution and its parameters:

  • domain type, minimum, maximum, mode
  • mean, variance, standard deviation, coef. of variation
  • skewness, kurtosis
  • values of PDF(x), CDF(x), Survival(x) etc.

For continuous distributions, you can also estimate the inverse CDF (also known as the quantile function, or the percent point function), x(F).

Probabilities

Probability Calculations

StatAssist allows to specify one or two x values (delimiters) which divide the entire X axis into several intervals. For each of the intervals, it calculates and displays the probability that the variate takes on a value from that interval, depending on the distribution type. The delimiters you specify are also displayed on the PDF graph for better perception of the results.

Supported Distributions

StatAssist supports all the commonly used continuous distributions:

  • Beta
  • Cauchy
  • Chi-Squared
  • Erlang
  • Error Function
  • Exponential
  • F Distribution
  • Fatigue Life
  • Frechet
  • Gamma
  • Gumbel Max
  • Gumbel Min
  • Inverse Gaussian
  • Johnson SB
  • Johnson SU
  • Laplace
  • Logistic
  • Log-Logistic
  • Lognormal
  • Normal
  • Pareto
  • Pert
  • Power Function
  • Rayleigh
  • Student's t
  • Triangular

Many distributions are available in two versions. For example, both two-parameter and three-parameter Weibull distributions are supported. In addition, six advanced distributions are available:

  • Generalized Extreme Value
  • Generalized Logistic
  • Generalized Pareto
  • Phased Bi-Exponential

The following discrete distributions are supported:

  • Bernoulli
  • Binomial
  • Discrete Uniform
  • Geometric
  • Hypergeometric
  • Logarithmic
  • Negative Binomial
  • Poisson

Random Numbers

With StatAssist, you can easily generate random numbers from any of the supported distributions, save them as a text file, or, at your convenience, copy them to the Clipboard.
